MTK Book Club

You may also call this page the “MTK Procrastination Technique.”

When I don’t feel like producing videos or researching the next solution to better humanity, I hide away somewhere, lock the door and grab a good book.

These are the top 6 books I highly recommend any human learn from.

Why?

The below selection offers the most robust and well-rounded understanding to who we are, where we come from, and what we can accomplish.

Each read has significantly altered my perceptions of on what a single individual is capable of. I know it will give you the same gift.

#6 – Your Mind & How to Improve It (Higbee, Ph.D.)

Most people believe they have bad memory. The problem is no one’s ever explained it well enough to us, until now.

Higbee writes with all the educational backing of a text book but delivers it with extreme clarity and practicality. This short read is the reason why I can learn a language quickly or memorize pages of  acting scripts.

#5 – The Sex Lives of Cannibals (J.M. Troost)

A read that will never break your concentration.

Troost writes about a rather unique adventure with an even more unique lens and sense of comedy. Through the read, you’ll be enchanted and deeply humored from this Dutch-American author.

Truly an epic and creative read for someone who wants to get lost in the Equatorial Pacific.

#4 – The Sun Also Rises (Hemingway)

The story follows American expats exploring through Europe to the Spanish bullfights.

Lessons of how to be true to yourself has never come in such a captivating form of entertainment. Hemingway doesn’t spare any word writing this masterpiece.

Themes of love, betrayal, attaining novelty and war are artfully woven into this post-WWI adventure. I try to read this book once a year due to its profound inspiration.

#3 – Astrophysics for People in a Hurry (deGrasse Tyson)

This short and insightful read brings humility to humanity in the form of the history of our universe.

You’ll be looking to the night sky more often after this read and ponder the many ways you can make your mark in this world, even if it is insignificant in comparison to our rather large universe.

Please don’t miss this read, especially if you’re always in a hurry!

#2 – Sapiens – A Brief History of Humankind (Harari)

Wow.

You’ll never have to look for another anthropological read more comprehensive and starkly objective. If you’re not afraid to be jarred to your core, this is the book for you.

Not everyone wants a book that will blow your hair back, and that is quite okay.

But if you want to break the confinements of our own fragile perceptions of humanity, look no further. This book offers infinite expansion to the reader.

10/10 marks all the way for someone looking to see humanity anew.
